Born from a long history of collaboration, admiration and love, Couplet initially began as an idea for Adam Beck and Evan Weiss of Into It. Over It. to record and produce a couple demos for Tanner Jones (formally of You Blew It!) in the city of Chicago at Type One Studios.
These were Tanner's first songs he'd written since YBI! had called it quits.
Travel was booked. Demos were in hand. The group was excited to see each other and work together. Then, shortly after the plans were put in motion, Covid-19 hit the US and the country shut down.
Not to be dismayed, and with some newfound free time on their hands, Adam and Evan chose to make the best of the situation and put some work into a few of the demos to see how Tanner would feel about some ideas. One idea turned into two. Two ideas turned into ten. Ten ideas turned into fifty.. and before the group knew it they had an LP worth of songs on their hands.
Couplet was born. Adam Beck, Tanner Jones and Evan Weiss.
LP1 was recorded across a series of months in both Chicago and Orlando. It was mixed by Jason Cupp (American Football, IIOI, Maps & Atlases) and fully realized with artwork care of Andy Hendricks.
Pressed on three colors here in Chicago at Smashed Plastic and includes a 16-panel set of brand standards presented in a beautiful package to compliment the material.
